This checklist organizes buyer and facility-review questions. It is not a chemical compatibility determination and does not replace the SDS, chemical hygiene plan or qualified EHS review.

Checklist

Build the storage inventory first

Identify every materialRecord the chemical name, concentration, physical state, container material, container size, quantity and current SDS.
Record all hazardsDo not assign storage from one product name alone. Capture flammable, oxidizing, corrosive, toxic, reactive and other applicable hazards.
Check SDS storage informationReview the SDS storage and incompatibility sections together with container labels and the facility chemical hygiene plan.
Flag special casesRefer water-reactive, pyrophoric, peroxide-forming, highly toxic, unstable and other high-hazard materials to qualified facility review.

Checklist

Plan segregation and containment

Group by compatibilityOrganize by hazard and compatibility before using alphabetical order within a compatible group.
Separate incompatible groupsReview acids versus bases, oxidizers versus flammables, water-reactives, toxics and other incompatible combinations.
Use suitable barriersDetermine whether separate cabinets, cabinet compartments, shelves, bins or compatible secondary containment are required.
Prevent accidental contactConsider container failure, spills, shelf condition, placement, labeling and access when reviewing the storage layout.

Checklist

Convert the review into an RFQ

Cabinet familiesList the proposed flammable, corrosive, acid/alkali, general chemical or other storage groups without assuming universal fit.
Capacity and layoutProvide quantities, container dimensions, room constraints, shelf needs and the proposed number of segregated storage zones.
Material evidenceRequest cabinet body, lining, shelf, sump and internal-component materials for the selected model.
DocumentsRequest model specifications, drawings, instructions and available supporting documents needed for facility review.

Common questions

FAQ

Can chemicals be organized alphabetically?

Only after compatibility and hazard grouping has been reviewed. Alphabetical storage across incompatible groups can create unsafe proximity.

Does secondary containment make incompatible chemicals compatible?

No. Secondary containment can help prevent accidental mixing, but it does not change chemical incompatibility or remove the need for appropriate segregation.

Can Safatrix confirm compatibility from this checklist?

No. The checklist prepares the inventory and RFQ. Final decisions require the SDS, concentrations, quantities, cabinet construction, facility rules and qualified EHS review.
